The Network for Consumer Protection, a new civil coalition, apparently heavily composed of Pakastani journalists, met this week to to create awareness among different segments of society about iodine deficiency disorders, reported The Daily Times (Islamabad).� The group "demanded of the government to immediately legislate to make addition of iodine to table salt mandatory."
The group plans an unrelenting public communications campaign and will meet again in April.
